Sidoarjo (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto simultaneously inaugurated 16 renovated stadiums and one brand-new stadium in various regions of Indonesia from Gelora Delta Sidoarjo Stadium in Sidoarjo District, East Java, on Monday.
He symbolically officiated the 17 football facilities by pressing a button on a stage set up at the venue stadium, which was among the inaugurated facilities.
The president took time to inaugurate the stadiums in the afternoon after opening a metal smelter operated by PT Freeport Indonesia in Gresik District in the same province earlier.
Between 2023 and 2024, the Ministry of Public Works utilized a budget of Rp1.74 trillion (US$106.2 million) to work on the stadiums, which are listed below:
Several ministers and deputy ministers from the Red and White Cabinet, as well as officials from the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), accompanied the president during the simultaneous inaugurations.
The attendees comprised Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, State-owned Enterprises Minister and PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir, Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo, Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo, and East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa.
